Social media community rules

Our rules ensure our social media channels are used positively, and for the good of the community.

Our social media channels provide information and updates about the work happening across the EPA. Our work involves regulating a variety of activities, from rocket launches to labels on cosmetics.

Content on these pages also includes information from our Safer Homes programme, about using and storing household chemicals safely in and around your home.

We don’t provide medical advice or emergency information. Call 111 in an emergency. If someone has been poisoned call the National Poisons Centre on 0800 764 766.

This page is monitored during New Zealand business hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

We try to respond to private or direct messages within 48 hours.

Contact us by phone, email or mail if you have:

  • concerns about the EPA’s social media use
  • a formal request, comment or enquiry
  • a response to an item published for public comment.

If you wish your comment(s) to be considered as part of a formal submission or application process, you must follow the process outlined on our website.
