Samurai to slay stink bug

Your views were sought on an application to introduce Samurai wasp into New Zealand.

The stink bug poses one of the highest risk biosecurity threats to New Zealand, according to the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug Council, who made the application. It is often detected at the border, but if it successfully breaches our biosecurity system and establishes, it will be very hard to eradicate, the Council says.

Submissions have closed and we are now in the process of reviewing and assessing the submissions that were received.

If, as a result of this process, a hearing is considered necessary we will advise submitters of the date and place of the hearing, and publish a public notice on our website.
