Eucalyptus tortoise beetle

The New Zealand Forest Research Institute Limited (Scion) has applied for approval to release a wasp to control the eucalyptus tortoise beetle.

The period for making submissions on this application closed on 14 November 2018.

After evaluating and reviewing the written submissions, we consider that a hearing is necessary to determine this application to release from containment a parasitoid wasp, Eadya daenerys, for biological control of the pest Eucalyptus tortoise beetle, Paropsis charybdis, a pest of Eucalyptus trees in New Zealand.

The hearing will be held at The Terrace Conference Centre, Level 2, 114 The Terrace, Wellington, on 22 January 2019, commencing at 10 am.
