On 20 March 2017 the Department of Conservation provided the EPA with two excel spreadsheets of marine mammal sightings and incidents in the Taranaki Basin. The Department of Conservation has since realised that there was an error in the marine mammal sightings data. The error has been corrected and the marine mammal sightings spreadsheet was resubmitted to the EPA on 30 January 2018.

Appeals lodged with the High Court on the TTRL decision.
A number of parties have lodged appeals with the High Court in Wellington of the EPA's decision to grant a marine consent to Trans-Tasman Resources Limited under the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Act 2012 (EEZ Act). The EPA and the applicant, Trans-Tasman Resources Limited are also parties to the appeals.
The High Court has set a hearing date starting on 16 April 2018 for a four day hearing.
