Two parties have made an application for a water conservation order of Te Waikoropupū Springs and associated water bodies. The EPA are managing the application process, and will support the Special Tribunal that has been set up to consider and report on this application.
The water conservation order for Te Waikoropupū Springs and associated waterbodies was publicly notified on 31 January 2018. Submissions closed at 4 pm, 14 March 2018.
A total of 1783 submissions were received.

An additional public notice was published extending the submission period following ex-tropical cyclone Gita causing damage to the Nelson and Golden Bay areas. The public notice appeared in the New Zealand Herald, Dominion Post, Christchurch Press, Otago Daily Times, Motueka Guardian, Nelson Mail on Wednesday 28 February 2018. The notice was also published in the Tasman Leader on 1 March 2018 and the Golden Bay weekly on 2 March 2018.
