Voluntary unit cancellations
People or companies can voluntarily cancel emission units to offset their emissions and can opt to have their cancellation information published here.
Under the Climate Change Response Act 2002, companies or people can voluntarily cancel emission units. One of the reasons they may do this is to offset their emissions. This is unrelated to mandatory obligations under the Emissions Trading Scheme.
The table shows voluntary unit cancellation information for those account holders who have opted to have their cancellation information published. It provides a comment as to the purpose for each cancellation. The comments field is optional.
Voluntary cancellations are updated in the table on the last working day of each month.
