This project plans to develop a commercial boat harbour including a marina, berthing infrastructure, a commercial maintenance facility and an access channel to the Whakatāne River.

The applicant Te Rāhui Herenga Waka Whakatāne Limited lodged the application with the EPA on 1 February 2022.

On 9 February 2022, the EPA determined that the application complied with the requirements set out in clause 3, Schedule 6 of the COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020 (the Act), and the referral order, and provided it to the panel appointed to determine the application.
