Matawii water storage reservoir

Construction of water storage and distribution infrastructure in Kaikohe to support the development of Northland’s agriculture and horticulture sector, and to provide drinking water for Kaikohe.

This project involves earthworks, land use and water-related consents, including consents for the taking and damming of water.

This project is identified as LP16 in the Act. 

Previously, the Te Tai Tokerau Water Trust lodged an application for the Matawii water storage reservoir on 24 July 2020. The application was subsequently withdrawn.

On 10 August 2020, Te Tai Tokerau Water Trust lodged a new application for the Matawii water storage reservoir.
