Limitations

  • The approval for handlers does not include handlers in control of Agrichemicals as defined in the latest version of the NZS 8409, vertebrate toxic agents, fumigants and veterinary medicines.
  • The approval of locations where class 2.1.1 substances are present is limited to: packages (cylinders) to a maximum aggregate quantity of 1,000 kg or 1,000 cubic meters (permanent gases); and bulk storage to a maximum aggregate quantity of 5,000 kg. The approval of locations where class 2.1.2 substances are present is limited to: packages to a maximum aggregate water capacity of 100,000 L. The approval of locations where class 3.1 substances are present is limited to: storage in closed packages in one or more AS 1940 cabinets to a maximum aggregate quantity of 1,000 L; closed packages with a maximum aggregate quantity of 2,000 L in a store in a building or a maximum aggregate quantity of 10,000 L in a type D store in a building [Schedule 10, Clause 25A(1) of the Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 and Clause 36 of Site and Storage Conditions for Class 3.1 Flammable Liquids]; closed packages with a maximum aggregate quantity of 10,000 L for storage in a detached building; and bulk storage with a maximum aggregate capacity of 120,000 L.
  • The approval of locations where class 4 substances are present is limited to 500,000 kg.
  • The approval of new stationary container systems for above ground tanks and below ground tanks is limited to a maximum capacity of 60,000 L (water capacity) per tank used to contain a hazardous liquid. The approval of stationary container systems for above ground tanks and below ground tanks, which have previously been issued with a stationary container system test certificate, is limited to a maximum capacity of 120,000 L (aggregate total) used or intended to be used to contain a hazardous liquid. The approval does not include the design, construction or fabrication of stationary container systems [Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 Schedule 8, clauses 92 and 94]. The approval does not include stationary container systems that include vaporisers [Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 Schedule 8, clause 92(2)(e)]. The approval does not include stationary container systems that include wharf lines [Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004 Schedule 8, clause 92(2)(h)(iii)]. The approval does not include repair, modification or relocation of stationary container systems [Hazardous Substances (Dangerous Goods and Scheduled Toxic Substances) Transfer Notice 2004, Schedule 8, clause 92(2)(k); Part 18 clause 83].
