Releasing refrigerants into the atmosphere is illegal

Refrigerators, freezers and air-conditioning units contain refrigerants that damage the environment. Under the Climate Change Response Act (CCRA) 2002 it will be illegal to release synthetic greenhouse gases into the atmosphere from 1 January 2013.
