Regulating hazardous substances in transit

The EPA is inviting submissions on proposals for regulating hazardous substances on board New Zealand and foreign-flagged vessels and aircraft which are in transit through New Zealand to another jurisdiction.

The proposals are part of a package of changes made to the HSNO Act under the Government’s Health and Safety Reform.

The reform will see many rules relating to the management of hazardous substances in the workplace move from the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act (administered by the EPA) into the new Health and Safety at Work (HSW) Act (administered by WorkSafe).

Submissions close on 20 July 2017.
