The Environmental Protection Authority has approved a new group standard for substances containing pheromones.
Pheromones are used to estimate insect density, disrupt the behaviour of pests or control damage caused by them.
The new group standard is for substances that are, or contain, straight-chained lepidopteran sex pheromones (SCLPs). The standard provides a single set of conditions for substances of a similar type, nature or use.
Restrictions have been placed on the emission rate, concentration and application rate of the pheromone substance from the pheromone-containing product.
The device used to deliver the pheromone substance is also restricted.
