Amending or reassessing a new organism approval involves having a second look at an application that has already been approved. Any person can apply for an amendment or reassessment, including the public, the applicant, the Chief Executive of our Agency or the enforcement agency.
Amendment of an existing new organism approval
An amendment allows changes to an approval after it has been given—but only if the change is minor, or corrects a minor or technical error.
Reassessment of an existing new organism approval
A reassessment involves revaluating the risks and benefits identified in an application that was previously approved. The reassessment may result in changing the controls of the approval, or in extreme cases, withdrawing the approval.
