Hazardous substances in closed containers may
be held in a transit depot for up to three days, provided that any
containers are not opened. Transit depots include ports, airports,
freight forwarders’ yards and rail depots.
Transit depots may store and handle significant quantities of hazardous substances, so careful management is required.
