Applying for a review or reassessment

Anyone can apply to have a substance reviewed or reassessed.

Review of the classification of a substance

If you have information indicating that the classification of a substance may not be correct and you would like us to review it.

Correcting a technical error or make a change that is minor in effect

A hazardous substance approval may be amended via a minor or technical amendment.

A reassessment

The first step is applying for grounds. This means providing a good reason to review a substance that is already approved.

Once grounds have been decided, an application for  full or modified reassessment must be prepared.

A full reassessment involves a full assessment of the effects of a substance and the controls that have been imposed on it.

A modified reassessment is where a specific aspect of an approval is reassessed.

Amending a group standard approval

An existing group standard approval may be amended by initiative of the Authority or on application by any person.
