Periodic testers

A periodic tester is a person legally-approved to test and certify compressed gas cylinders.​

Testing and certifying cylinders

Cylinders holding compressed gases must be regularly tested to ensure they are safe to use.  These tests are done by periodic testers, who work in cylinder testing stations.

Fees for testing cylinders

The cost of issuing or renewing certificates is set by the testing station.

 

Becoming a periodic tester

​To become a periodic tester of cylinders, you need to provide evidence of your ability, training and awareness of the HSNO Act.

Renewing a periodic tester approval

​Periodic testers can renew their approval four weeks prior to the current expiry date.

A periodic tester approval is specific to a testing station and for the types of cylinders the periodic tester can test.
