Household bleach

Bleach is normally a solution of sodium hypochlorite in water. Household bleach is typically three to five percent concentration.  For safety instructions, follow the instructions on the label for using, storing and disposing of the product.

Strong bleach, greater than 25 percent sodium hypochlorite, may cause harm to people and the environment.  It will be labelled as corrosive and ecotoxic.

How much strong bleach can I store at home?

Only store the minimum quantity you need.

Do not hold more than 100 litres.

Otherwise you will have to follow the workplace rules and have, for example, emergency management procedures, spill containment and signage in place.
