Amending a group standard approval

An existing group standard approval may be amended by initiative of the Authority or on application by any person.

How do you apply for a group standard to be amended?

To apply for a new group standard to be amended, please contact us first. You will need to send us a completed application form. 

For a group standard to be amended, you need to demonstrate that :

  • amending the group standard is a more efficient and effective way of managing the risks of all the hazardous substances in the identified group
  • the substances will remain similar, and
  • that their risks will continue to be managed under one set of conditions.

You will also need to provide information on:

  • the scope of the group standard
  • best international practices and standards, and 
  • any other information that may support your application.

What is the process?

Applications to amend a group standard are processed via the publicly notified application pathway. The statutory timeframe for processing this type of application is 100 working days.

Anyone may make a written submission on the proposed amendment to a group standard.
You may need to consult with Māori if risks of significance to Māori are identified.

The fee for this application is $3,450.00 (including GST).​
