EPA notices in force

The EPA can set hazardous substance rules under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act in EPA notices.

EPA notices are approved by the EPA Board rather than going through Cabinet. This allows the notices to be updated quickly, allowing the EPA to keep up to date with international and technological changes. Although they are approved by the EPA Board, proposed EPA notices must go through a public consultation period.

This page provides you with links to pages for EPA notices that are currently in force and must be complied with. The pages give you:

  • information about the EPA notice

  • the legal EPA notice document

  • any guidance about the notice

  • the consultation document we released for public consultation when the notice was proposed

  • submissions we received from interested parties.
