AgResearch Limited has submitted an application to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) seeking approval under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act (HSNO Act) to release 18 new grass species closely related to perennial ryegrass to provide New Zealand researchers and forage grass breeders with important and essential new genetic resources to improve pastoral production and reduce the impact of pests, diseases and climate change.
Public submissions on the proposal open on Wednesday 14 December 2016 and close at 5pm on Wednesday 22 February 2017.

All submissions must be submitted in writing via emailto: email@example.com, or mail to Private Bag 63002, Wellington 6140, New Zealand.
A public hearing may be held before a decision is made.
Submitters may also choose to present their views in person at a hearing, the date of which will be confirmed after submissions close.
The EPA would provide at least 10 working days’ notice of the hearing date, time and place. We'll provide this information to all submitters and the applicant.
