Rob Forlong was Chief Executive of the Environmental Risk Management Authority since 2005. He has held senior executive positions for the last 10 years in both central and local government. Rob has a broad range of experience in environmental management including freshwater management, coastal management, parks, conservation, flood protection, hazardous substances and new organisms. He has more than 20 years' experience in the environment field. He has an M.Sc (Hons) in zoology. He has attended courses at the London School of Business and Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is an Associate Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
Andrea Eng, General Manager, Hazardous Substances
Andrea
joined ERMA New Zealand in 1998 to lead the project to transfer
hazardous substances from old legislation to the framework of the HSNO
Act. She began her scientific career in the Environmental Chemistry
Laboratory at the National Health Institute (NHI) and continued her
career in the analytical laboratory at ESR before moving on to a
position as Senior Scientist and Team Leader (Health Strategy) at the
Department of Labour. While at ERMA New Zealand, Andrea completed an MBA
through Massey University and took over as General Manager of the
Hazardous Substances Group after the successful completion of the
Transfer Project.

Linda Faulkner, General Manager, Maori

Linda joined ERMA New Zealand in May 2003 and comes from a policy, research and relationship management background. Linda’s work history includes s
everal years in the New
Zealand Controlled Environment Laboratory at the Horticulture
and Food Research Institute in Palmerston North, and the Department of
Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR). She has also worked at the
Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa in a Māori policy and operations
capacity.

Sarah Gardner, General Manager, Nationally Significant Proposals
Sarah
was the inaugural Manager Consenting for the newly established EPA in
2009 and was promoted to Director/General Manager in March 2011.
She has more than 15 years' experience in resource management in both
central and local government in New Zealand and Australia. She holds a
Bachelor of Resource and Environmental Planning from Massey University, a
Certificate in Maori Language from Te Wananga o Aoteroa and a Diploma
in Local Government Administration from the Local Government Association
of Queensland. Sarah has previously held the position of Consents
Manager at Horizons Regional Council and Executive Coordinator
Environment and Infrastructure, Strategic and Environmental Planning and
Policy at Gold Coast City Council in Queensland.

Andrea Gray, General Manager, Emissions Trading

Andrea Gray joined the EPA in November 2011 as the inaugural General Manager, Emissions Trading Scheme. Andrea has a BMus, BA (Linguistics) and an MA (Library & Information Studies). Her work in private and public sectors (including IBM, Telecom, TradeNZ and the State Services Commission) over the last 30 years has included database systems engineering, knowledge and information management, early adoption of web technologies to support new business models and business relationship management. Her previous role was General Manager Identity & Data Services in the Department of Internal Affairs. She has completed the three year Public Sector Advanced Leadership Programme and the Australia NZ School of Government Managing Regulation & Compliance and Executive Fellows Programmes.

Donald Hannah, General Manager, Strategy and Analysis
Donald was one of the original employees of
ERMA New Zealand and was appointed General Manager, Strategy and
Analysis in January 2004. He is not only involved in regulation in New
Zealand but is also active internationally in the UN and OECD on
chemicals and biotechnology regulation. Before joining ERMA New Zealand,
Donald was the Principal Scientist at the Institute of Environmental
Science and Research Ltd (ESR) primarily studying toxic chemicals in the
environment. He joined ESR in 1992 as Group Leader, Environmental
Organic Chemistry, and prior to this worked at DSIR in both food and
environmental organic chemistry.

Libby Harrison, General Manager, New Organisms
Libby join
ed
ERMA New Zealand in December 2003. She has experience in the development
of legislation working for the Ministry for the Environment on changes
to the new organism parts of the HSNO Act. Libby also worked for two
years in Paris managing the OECD's Pesticide Programme. Her scientific
background is in ecology and entomology and she has over ten years
experience in pesticide environmental risk assessment and risk
management

Johanne Spring, General Manager, Corporate Services
Johanne
joined ERMA New Zealand in September 2006 after seven years with ACC as
a Branch Manager, then National Contact Centre Manager, before joining
HealthPAC, part of the Ministry of Health as National Operations
Manager.
Johanne's strong links with the health sector began at the Kimberley
Hospital in Levin, where she qualified as a psychopaedic nurse.
