Lodgement and notification


On 15 August 2011, the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) received applications (matters) from the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), Porirua City Council, and Transpower New Zealand Limited (Transpower), for Notices of Requirement and Resource Consents for the Transmission Gully Proposal. 

The EPA recommendation to the Minister for the Environment (Hon Dr Nick Smith) was made on 24 August 2011, to direct the matters to a board of inquiry for decision.

The Minister directed that the matters be decided by a board of inquiry. This direction was publicly notified on 17 September 2011 allowing submissions on the applications for Notices of Requirement and Resource Consents. The submission period closed on Monday 31 October 2011.
