DMC Minute 12 Hearing locations
Published on: 22/12/2016
The TTRL Decision-making Committee (DMC) has issued DMC Minute 12 outlining the locations for the TTRL application hearing. The hearing will be held in Wellington and New Plymouth. DMC Minute 12 can be viewed using the link below:
As outlined in DMC Minute 11, on 15 December 2016 the DMC received a memorandum from Te Runanga o Ngāti Ruanui Trust (Ngāti Ruanui) requesting that a significant proportion of the total number of hearing days be held on a Ngāti Ruanui marae or, at the very least, within the takiwā of Ngāti Ruanui. This request was supported by Te Ohu Kai Moana. A similar request was made by Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi in their submission.
As outlined in DMC Minute 12 the DMC has decided to respectfully decline the request to hold part of the hearing on a marae and the DMC consider that New Plymouth is the most suitable venue near the takiwā of Maori submitters with mana whenua status. Further, the DMC would like EPA staff to explore other options for recognising tikanga Māori either inside or outside the hearing context.
